ABOUT US
What we are...The Community Service Team at ISM is a student led / teacher supported organization that dedicates its time and effort to serving and impacting positive change in the communities in and around Yangon. We open our eyes and look for ways that will promote sustainable progress towards ending poverty, such as helping our neighborhood children learn English, or develop their creativity through art & music. These are only a few of the ways we help. Read on to find out more about CS!

What we do...
Every Community Service Student who gives of their time, effort, thought, and material items begins to learn what unconditional Love, Kindness, and Generosity really means. They get to take all that learning they’ve done in school and in their personal lives and actually put it into good use! They integrate, empower, touch, explore, care, develop, practice and grow into a community that serves and learns along with the communities they are supporting. They always get way more out of CS than what they put into it. The more effort they put in, the greater the results they will receive… But these results are not measured in Grades of As, Bs, Cs, etc… They're measured in Joy, Contentment, and Satisfaction in knowing in their hearts that they have done something unique, powerful, meaningful and special, and that what they've done has had a positive effect on others' lives. As one student once said,
“There is no better feeling than knowing you’ve made a positive impact on another person’s life.”

History of ISM CS
ISM CS was established in 2006 by Mr.Todd Davis and only 7 members of ISM students who stayed in CS for the whole 1st year.. Over the years, CS has grown to a group of over 200 dedicated members ranging from the 6th grade to the 12th grade. Students along with 11+ dedicated teachers work together to bring about change in their community. We hope CS will continue growing and improving what we do for many years into the future!
Why do we serve our community?
We serve because we want to empower the people we serve with new hopes, possibilities and dreams. We want to show children, young students, adolescents, and adults that their future lives are not set in stone, and that they have the power to change the course of their lives for the better. We want to share the knowledge that we have, the material items that have access to (that we often take for granted), and the talents that we possess, with people who are so willing and open to receive and use these gifts. Everyone we work with deep down wants to find their way out of their suffering which is often rooted in poverty. And we are determined to find ways to empower people so that they can achieve that goal. Together we make a great Team!
